"We Only Grow From Anguish" Mounted on Wood Panel

"I know the planet Earth is 'bout to explode
Kinda hope that no one save it, we only grow from anguish" - Mac Miller, "Friends"

I was listening to the late rapper Mac Miller while driving through the Red Rocks of Utah when this line struck me. While it beckons the doom of the Hindu god Vishnu (who brings about a cycle of destruction and rebirth during a time of moral decline), it resonated with me as a beautiful line, a reminder how we grow through adversity and develop character from experiences of friction; the obstacle is the path.  

My previous bisons, Never Left Eden and Resilience, respectively played with themes of inner potential and strength - resilience! - and it felt fitting that this inspired theme appeared while working on this one, especially from an artist who transitioned.
