The festival is held in a spectacular setting of rolling green lawns, sparkling fountains, gorgeous flowers, stately trees, and meandering walkways of the Scottsdale Civic Center bordering Scottsdale’s Downtown shopping area, which attracts a high percentage of Scottsdale’s annual 6.4 million visitors. Scottsdale residents are the most affluent citizens in Arizona.

There are two Street Fairs per year, one in spring and one in winter. The next Street Fair is December 9, 10, 11, 2011. A group show provoked by Death itself will be showcased on Saturday, October 8 from four until eight p.m. at Metallo Gallery in the heart of Madrid, New Mexico. Dia de los Muertos features both emerging and collected artists including Melissa Morgan, Steven Vigil and Antonio Roybal. This all-original show explores Death’s influence in vibrant works intended for the living.

This invitational group show offers variations on Death’s imagery. The tone is a continuum of reverence, traditionalism, eroticism and black humor. That such beauty is to be found in a Memento Mori reminds us of our short, sweet life.

Show runs until at least November 8th (subject to extension).
